Fashion week is the perfect time for designers and makeup artists to collaborate on the next big trend. By creating a TOTAL look, makeup artists can enhance a designer’s collection and take his/her vision to the next level. But bad styling, such as tacky makeup can easily alter a designer’s look and turn their vision into a walking nightmare. So, how exactly should you coordinate your makeup to your outfit? It’s pretty simple!
There are a few things to remember when matching your makeup to your clothing!
Eyeshadow:
Typically, we try to match everything we possibly can to get the perfect look, but in this case matching your blue shirt with a bold blue eyeshadow might not be a good idea! Yes, you should try bold bright eyeshadows but being too literal might kill the look you’re going for. Instead, try matching your eyeshadow to the color of your accessories. If you’re wearing a gold handbag or earrings put some gold shimmer eyeshadow over the lid of your eye! It’s subtle yet noticeable. Now, if you plan on wearing neutral clothing, (brown, gray, beige, etc.) experimenting with bold and bright shades is totally okay!
Lipstick:
Unlike eyeshadow, matching your lipstick to your clothing is usually a lot easier to do since you’re less likely to try to match your blue shirt to a blue lipstick! So, if you’re not sure whether to go with the red lipstick or nude lipstick just try both out and go with whatever makes you feel the best! Just remember to always try the lighter color first since darker colors are typically harder to come off and usually stain your lip/face.
Basic tips:
- Don’t be afraid to be bold!
- Sometimes less is more!
- When in doubt try it out!
- Wear what makes you feel beautiful! (Even if that means matching your blue shirt with blue eyeshadow and lipstick!)
